GREEN  FLASH   .... Yes it really does exist.  Had seen it 2 times before this ... but never managed to get the shot.

There's no way to anticipate it .... and it lasts too briefly to see it & then shoot.

You just have to wait until the sun is almost in position ..... set the camera to "sports mode" & just start shooting.

Then when you get home... delete about 130 shots.   Thank God for digital !!!

The sand was soft & the water... surprisingly warm

Looks like a candidate for a horror film, doesn't he.

There was lots of beautiful sea life for viewing ...... and for catching.  ( that's part of the Russian crew with their trophy of the day )

Now I have absolutely NO IDEA  what this guy is...... but he fit my  "suitably strange" category.

Well .... since we didn't have a pool .... we just filled the zodiacs with water to cool off in  ( and to give us an excuse to have another drink )

The caldera is peppered with the results of eruptions that have occurred since

the original one that formed the caldera.  In back: the 1951 cone.

Caldera Walls .... have no idea how high they are.

Those 2 things that look like pointy black rocks ... to the right .. are huts

Yes ... there are several dwellings within the caldera.

There hasn't been any rain for quite awhile.... as you can tell from this  dry  riverbed.

We visited a school .. and the children were  great fun !!

The landscape was spectacular !!!
