In the mornings ...the cars would be driven from the garage and parked on the sidewalk , in front of the hotel where we were staying. ( and also our departure site ) .

That meant ... we not only had scads of people from the town gathering around .... but also all the people from the 3 conventions who were staying at the hotel.

Since Roy was Paul's  Navigator for the Rally ... looking over the maps ... after coffee ... was an every day must.

The flag comes down ... and  WE'RE  OFF  !!!

As you can tell ... we're now out of the Pampas  area.

That's  Roy & Paul ... directly in front of the lens

Yep ... definitely  not in the Pampas any longer.

When we reached the town gates ... we picked up a police escort.

The restaurant is at the top of the hotel  ( where the roof peaks )

Thought you'd like to see how this car's water supply is carried.

Just  "hangin' around "  waiting for everybody to arrive.

View from the restaurant

Enjoyed  afternoon Tea & goodies  here. .... and afterwards  the cars took a tour thru the grounds & the club community

With Jorge  .... owner of the 1912  Cadillac  .. who graciously volunteered to share his car with Prue and me for the 3 day long  Pampas Rally

The idea was for each of the cars to clear the points on an obstacle course in this big open field.

But that quickly degenerated into a frantic single-minded attempt to just keep the cars

from getting bogged down in the marshy grass

VERY early that morning .... we packed our bags  & loaded them onto the bus  ( which would meet us at the hotel for our stay in  Pinamar ).

This was the last day of the Pampas Run....and the most difficult   ... since most of the cars had never before attempted a single run of that duration.

Before it was all over .... we all knew what "Rocky" meant about "going the distance"

We enjoyed a LOT of beautiful open countryside.   It was still  "nippy" but thank heaven there wasn't much wind. ( unlike the first day of the run ).

It's really amazing how much more enjoyable the scenery is ...

when you can actually LOOK at it  without fear that the cold wind will freeze your eyeballs

Well ... it's a good thing we had these guys as back-ups.

They really earned their money that day.

The car Prue & I traveled in,  was ahead of most of group.

One minute we could see Paul, Roy & the others following us  & the next minute ...

 they had vanished.

THIS  is why.       The tire on one of the cars  just  exploded & came off .

Kind of a unique way of handling the problem,   don't you think ?        Instead of actually  changing the tire  .... you just bolt the new one to the rim of the old one.

 Clever.

Then  several  other cars  had some problems.

Now ... while all this was going on ...... our car  &  the other 3  ...who were in front of the pack  (  completely oblivious  as to what was happening behind us ) ....

pulled into a gas station to wait for the others to make an appearance. ... and amused ourselves as best we could.

Okay ..... Yeah ,  I  DID.           Welllllll ... the pooch really was quite active when I started  the  "tummy - scratching"  thing.

How very odd.     It usually relaxes them ... but doesn't normally put them to sleep.

( of course,     now that I think about it ...    I remember scratching a lion once ... &  it had the same effect.        Poor thing just went comatose on me )

BOY ....  WHAT  A  DAY !!!

Finally made it to our hotel in Pinamar.

 Got our rooms ...

freshened up a bit ....

then back into the cars

for a small  "appearance" in town  before heading for a relaxing lunch at a nearby  country club.

We  were  more  than ready !!

We arrived in the club parking lot ... to the sight of waiters making their way to us ...  bearing gifts    ( Pre - lunch   Champagne )

Our little band of   Car Nomads

Later that afternoon .... we headed to this little resort community ... where we had been invited to someone's home for tea, coffee, & snacks

Afterwards ... all the girls decided to check out all the boutiques .... while the men stayed behind with the cars  & did  "guy  stuff".

(  have no clue who the guy with the camera is ..... but local newspaper people were hanging around , so he could be one of theirs )

The club gave each of us a  "remembrance  gift"  that evening.

The men got metal discs  ( about the size of demitasse saucer )  of the Club Classico logo.

The women each  got  a necklace with a decorative silver disc attached .... ( each one was a different design ).
